And on we go - at the one-third mark.

By now, those of you who have joined in on the Nanowrimo project are probably nearing the 10,000-word mark. If so, that's fabulous! Truly. If not, that's still okay. You have ample time to pull it together before the final bell sounds. And even if you don't manage to write those 50,000 words by the deadline, that's STILL okay, because you're writing, and that's the important part of the whole project. Obviously.

So, let's take a brief respite and relax for a few minutes. I mean, really. You can't pound those pesky keys every minute of every day. Seriously. This little break will hopefully recharge your batteries and give you the will to go on (just in case you're starting to waiver and your original enthusiasm is beginning to fade like an old bleeding Madras shirt from the sixties. Remember those? But I digress.)

Here's what I'd like you to do —
Write a comment to this post and answer one of the following questions:

1. My Nano project is going great, and the next thing my MC is going to do is . . .
2. My Nano project is sucking right now because I can't figure out what to do about . . .
3. I'm not sure how my Nano project is going because I just keep writing. I'll figure it out later. But I am a little concerned about . . .

There you go. Leave a comment and tell us where you are on day 10.

Happy writing!

  1. 2. My Nano project is sucking right now because I can't figure out what to do about . . . getting to the next part of the story. I've been trying to write in sequence which I've never done before, and I'm struggling with getting from where I am, to the next peak.

I think I'll just go write that scene, and figure out how to get there later.

  2. I think that's a great direction to take, Kate. Writing is kind of magical in that one sentence leads to the next and things that you never imagined start to unfold before your eyes. So writing that other scene might give you some insight into how to get to where you need to be. You can do it!

  3. Right now, I'm kinda wishing I was actually participating in NaNo as I read about everyone else participating. Go You! I may jump in next year.

  4. 1. My Nano project is going great, and the next thing my MC is going to do is be proud of herself for calling another character out. Oh, she's going to eat that later on. 25K words and going strong!

  5. 1. My Nano project is going great, and the next thing my MC is going to do is . . .
once again take away publicity from his best friend with some stupid act, the result of which will be his friend being seriously pissed at him, and my MC coming to the realization that he's a truly arrogant ass.

  6. Rebecca - It's not too late! You can still jump on the bandwagon and write your novel this year. Do it! Go to nanowrimo.net (I think it's dot net. It may be dot org. But you can find it.

  8. I'm up to 39006 tonight. Loving my book. It will probably need about 85000 at the very least, but should strike the 50000 on Monday or thereabouts.
